If you suspect the sheet you are viewing is protected, you can navigate to the Review tab on your Excel Ribbon and checkout the Protect buttons. If the first buttons name is Unprotect Sheet, you know your ActiveSheet is currently protected.
If the Draw tab options are greyed out only in a specific file, and the drawing feature works fine in other files and Office apps, it is possible that the file in concern is corrupted. Try repairing the affected workbook first, and see how it goes. For instructions, see Repair a corrupted workbook.
Adding the Draw tab to the Ribbon Right-click the Ribbon and select Customize the Ribbon. Check the box next to Draw, then click OK. The Draw tab will now be available in the Ribbon.
Locate the Action Pen on the right side of the toolbox (next to the other Drawing Tools), select it, and start using intelligent ink. To emphasize certain parts of your data, select the down arrow to the right of the Highlighter, and select Snap To Cells.
If you want to remove cells from the worksheet and shift the surrounding cells to fill the space, you can select the cells and delete them. On the Home tab, in the Cells group, click the arrow next to Delete, and then click Delete Cells.
In the upper-right corner of the Excel window, click Close. . On the File tab, click Exit.
Adding the Draw tab to the Ribbon Right-click the Ribbon and select Customize the Ribbon. Check the box next to Draw, then click OK. The Draw tab will now be available in the Ribbon.
The 2 most common reasons are that: Youre on a Chart sheet rather than a worksheet, or. Youre currently in Edit or Enter mode rather than Ready mode [which would be indicated on the left end of the Status Bar]
Tools are usually greyed out when the wrong data/object type is selected for the operation. For example to use sketcher tools there has to be a sketch first and it has to be selected.
