hi Im Linda Tracy from my online training hub in this video were going to look at how I can use Excel to recreate this chart here and the interesting feature in this chart is that the vertical axis has these text labels now theres no native chart or easy way to retrieve this in Excel however what we do know is with a regular bar chart when you use one of those we have a vertical axis of text labels and when we insert a regular line chart we have a horizontal axis with text labels so what we want to do is combine the two charts and well do that with some dummy data first of all lets create our line chart now Ive laid my data out in a bit of an odd way just because this data here Ive had to recreate it manually I dont actually have the data to hand and Ive laid it out like this in order to achieve this effect of the lines so lets go ahead and insert a line chart now the first thing we need to do is select the data and remove the year as a series its Excel is thought that this

Wrapping Labels Simply place your cursor in the formula bar where you want to add the break and press the ALT+ENTER keys. Hit ENTER again, and youll see the text wrap on two lines. You now have the text arranged the way you like it in the spreadsheet and in the graph.
Select the cell, range, or entire column that contains the text values that you want to split. On the Data tab, in the Data Tools group, click Text to Columns. Follow the instructions in the Convert Text to Columns Wizard to specify how you want to divide the text into separate columns.
To make a normal distribution graph, go to the Insert tab, and in Charts, select a Scatter chart with smoothed lines and markers. When we insert the chart, we see that our bell curve or normal distribution graph is created.
In the Format Axis dialog box, click Text Options.Change the alignment and orientation of labels In the Vertical alignment box, click the vertical alignment position that you want. In the Text direction box, click the text orientation that you want. In the Custom angle box, select the degree of rotation that you want.
Creating a Bell Curve in Excel In cell A1 enter 35. In the cell below it enter 36 and create a series from 35 to 95 (where 95 is Mean + 3* Standard Deviation). In the cell adjacent to 35, enter the formula: =NORM.DIST(A1,65,10,FALSE) Again use the fill handle to quickly copy and paste the formula for all the cells.
Simplest way I have found is to go to Axis Options (right click on axis and select format axis to select) and then change the drop-down next to Axis labels to none.
Distribute and Align Shapes in Excel STEP 1: Hold the CTRL key and select all of the shapes you want to move: STEP 2: Go to Format Arrange Align Align Bottom. STEP 3: Go to Format Arrange Align Distribute Horizontally. Distribute and Align Shapes. Helpful Resource:
Plotting the distribution of the data Open the file tutorials\Speed of Light. xlsx. Click a cell in the dataset. On the Analyse-it ribbon tab, in the Statistical Analyses group, click Distribution and then click Mean and Central Moments. In the Y variable list box, Select Speed . Click Calculate.
Distribution Charts These charts are used to illustrate correlation between quantitative data points and for distribution analysis in identifying values such as mean, median, range, outliers, etc. Line Charts Analyzing trends or progress over time.
Wrap text in a cell or group of cells Text inside the cell wraps to fit the column width. When you change the column width, text wrapping adjusts automatically. Note: If all wrapped text is not visible, it might be because the row is set to a specific height.
