Try these general steps: Load the workbook that contains your conditional formatting. Save the workbook as an HTML file. (Press F12, specify the HTML format, and give the workbook a different name.) Restart Excel. Load into Excel the HTML file you saved in step 2. Save the workbook as an Excel workbook.

There are a few ways to remove conditional formatting but keep the effects. One way is to use the Clear Rules feature. To do this, select the cells that have the conditional formatting that you want to remove. Then, go to Home Styles Clear Rules.
To fill each cell: Right-click on a cell, and click Format Cells. On the Fill tab, click Fill Effects. Under Colors, the Two Colors option is automatically selected. Select your starting and ending colors in the Color 1 and Color 2 drop downs. Under Shading Styles, select Vertical. Click OK, twice, to close the dialog boxes.
On the HOME tab, in the Styles group, click the arrow next to Conditional Formatting, and then click Manage Rules. The list of conditional formatting rules are displayed for the current selection including the rule type, the format, the range of cells the rule applies to, and the Stop If True setting.
To clear all contents, formats, and comments that are contained in the selected cells, click Clear All. To clear only the formats that are applied to the selected cells, click Clear Formats. To clear only the contents in the selected cells, leaving any formats and comments in place, click Clear Contents.
On the Home tab, in the Style group, click the arrow next to Conditional Formatting, and then click Highlight Cells Rules. Select the command you want, such as Between, Equal To Text that Contains, or A Date Occurring. Enter the values you want to use, and then select a format.
You can color-code your formulas using Excels conditional formatting tool as follows. Select a single cell (such as cell A1). From the Home tab, select Conditional Formatting, New Rule, and in the resulting New Formatting Rule dialog box, select Use a formula to determine which cells to format.
Select the range that you want to remove the conditional formatting. Click Home Conditional Formatting Clear Rules Clear Rules from Selected Cells. Click Home Conditional Formatting Clear Rules Clear Rules from Entire Sheet, and the entire worksheet conditional formatting will be removed.
If you want to remove conditional formatting or formula from just one cell at a time, you can simply right click on the cell and click on remove conditional formatting from the cell.
