Which Apps Are Worth Receiving Notifications From? Messages and Phone. No one wants to miss an important call from their mother or a text from their best friend, especially if there is an urgent situation that demands an immediate response. Email. Calendar. Breaking News and Commuting Apps.
For a notification system I would suggest you using the Observer pattern. The message you receive should be inside your Subject . Subject should allow any number of Observers to attach. When a message is received, the subject should notify all the observers.
When embarking on notification design, the essential design principle to keep in mind is that they must assist (not impede) people to perform tasks. Its imperative to test product prototypes early and map out the use cases where peripheral messaging would be of value in assisting interactions.
