The Clear-EventLog cmdlet deletes all of the entries from the specified event logs on the local computer or on remote computers. To use Clear-EventLog , you must be a member of the Administrators group on the affected computer.
In this article Click Start, and point to Programs. Point to Administrative Tools, and then click Event Viewer. Select the appropriate log file (Application, Security, System, Directory Service, or File Replication Service). Click the Action menu, and then click Clear all Events. You will be prompted to save the file.
If you are looking to get all event logs you need to use the command Get-WinEvent. No for cleaning an event log use the PowerShell command Clear-EventLog. If you want to empty just one log, just type example: Clear-EventLog LogName Application and the Application log will be emptied.
The safest way to truncate a log file is using the truncate command. In the above command, -s is used to set/adjust the size (in bytes) of the file. When you use -s 0, it means you adjusted the file size to 0 bytes. If you view the file content, it will be empty.
Delete a record Open the table in Datasheet View or form in Form View. Select the record or records that you want to delete. To select a record, click the record selector next to the record, if the record selector is available. Press DELETE, select Home Records Delete, or press Ctrl+Minus Sign (-).
The Remove-EventLog cmdlet deletes an event log file from a local or remote computer and unregisters all its event sources for the log. You can also use this cmdlet to unregister event sources without deleting any event logs.
Step 1: Also run Command Prompt as administrator. Step 2: Type wevtutil el and press Enter to list all the logs. Step 3: TYpe wevtutil cl + the name of the log you want to delete and press Enter to remove the log file.
When the Command Prompt window opens, type the command cd (without quotes) and press Enter, and then type cd windows before pressing Enter once more. You can then enter the command del *. log /a /s /q /f and press Enter to delete all log files from the Windows directory.
The easiest way to delete all windows log files at once is with PowerShell. Press Windows + X and click Windows PowerShell (Admin). In the PowerShell window, type Get-EventLog -LogName * | FodocHub {Clear-EventLog $. log} This will delete the event log of Windows 10 completely.
