Doug is going to talk to us about X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, otherwise known as XPS. Before we get started I would like to give you a bit of Dougs background. Doug is a senior research scientist with McCrone Associates. He specializes in surface sensitive spectroscopies, such as Auger electron, X-ray photoelectron, infrared reflection absorption, thermal desorption, and low-energy electron diffraction. Doug was awarded the U.S. Department of Commerces Silver Medal for his work in the development of conductometric chemical microsensor array technology for the detection of chemical warfare agents. The Microsoft XPS Document Writer (MXDW) is a print-to-file driver that enables a Windows application to create XML Paper Specification (XPS) document files on versions of Windows starting with Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (SP2).
Add or Remove XPS Viewer App in Settings Click on Start Settings Apps. Click on Optional features. Click on Add a feature. To remove XPS Viewer, scroll down and click on XPS Viewer, and click Uninstall.
XPS Viewer allows you to decide who can view, print, copy, or digitally sign an XPS document and how long a person can view or make changes to the document. It uses the Windows Rights Management Services technology to set document permissions.
The XPS format is similar to PDF because both file types are designed to show the final appearance of a document and provide information for printing. However, XPS files are written in a different programming language.
Click the checkbox next to the XPS Services feature option to remove the checkmark. Click the OK button and wait a few seconds for Windows to disable the XPS Document Writer virtual printer and remove other XPS related services. Close the Uninstall or Change a Program window.
XPS is short for XML Paper Specification. It was invented by Microsoft as a replacement for PDF files. XPS files can be used to archive and share files you routinely use for your business, such as contracts, receipts, memos, invoices or Web pages.
Open Printers and Faxes. Right click on the icon for the XPS Document Writer and select Delete.
How to remove pages from XPS document online Select and upload your XPS document for removing pages. Specify desired page numbers and click Remove Now button. Once your XPS document is processed click on Download Now button. Use Email button to send download link over email.
Type Windows Features into the Start Menu and open Turn Windows features on or off. Find Microsoft XPS Document Writer in the list of features and uncheck its box. You can also uncheck XPS Viewer to remove the program that opens XPS files. Click OK and Windows will process the removal.
Similar to a PDF, an XPS file is a fixed-layout document that cannot be edited, which means it does not lend itself to being opened in a document editor like Word.
