its that time of year when we are outside more out of the mountains and potentially getting exposed to ticks more frequently if you find a tick on you it is important to get it off if its been on there for longer than 24 hours especially if youre in an area where tick diseases are common you could be at risk for things like rocky mountain spotted fever or lyme disease however pouring olive oil over a tick is not a recommended way to try to get that out of there theres specific devices that you can use salt isnt going to help i dont know what were making here you want to get something underneath that tick as close to the skin as possible and pull straight out not twisting you dont want to detach the head

Remove Ticks the Right Way Clean the area around the tick bite with rubbing alcohol. Get your tweezers right down on your skin so you can grab as close as possible to the ticks head. Pull up slow and firm. Clean the bite area again, and your hands, with rubbing alcohol or soap and water.
No matter which tool youre using to remove the tick, always use a cotton ball soaked in either rubbing alcohol or liquid dish soap and place it on the tick.
Cut the plug at the dermal-epidermal junction with an iris scissors or a #15 scalpel blade. Alternatively, remove the tick and skin with a #15 surgical scalpel blade. At the Emergency Physicians discretion, close the skin site with a single 5-0 nylon suture or leave it open to granulate and heal.
If you develop flu-like symptoms days or weeks after being bitten by a tick or notice that the skin surrounding a tick bite looks infected and is becoming more swollen with enlarging areas of redness, it is time to visit a doctor for evaluation and possible treatment for Lyme disease.
How to remove a tick Use clean, fine-tipped tweezers to grasp the tick as close to the skins surface as possible. Pull upward with steady, even pressure. After removing the tick, thoroughly clean the bite area and your hands with rubbing alcohol or soap and water. Never crush a tick with your fingers.
Some Emergency Physicians prefer a surgical technique to remove the tick and its attachment to the skin to ensure that no fragments of the tick mouthparts remain within the patient. Clean and prep the skin. Inject 0.25 to 0.50 mL of local anesthetic solution subcutaneously immediately underneath the ticks mouthparts.
To remove a tick that is embedded in the skin, grasp the tick as close to the skins surface as possible, using tweezers if available. Pull upward with a steady, continuous motion. To ensure the whole tick is removed, try not to twist it or jerk it.
Leaving a ticks head embedded in your (or your furry friends) skin doesnt increase your risk of tick-borne disease. However, a ticks head left embedded in your skin can increase your risk of infection. The ticks head and mouth parts are covered in germs that you dont want to leave inside your skin.
