hello everyone welcome to this video in this short video i wanted to show you how to delete one ami image that you have created in your aws environment if you go to the ec2 dashboard and if you watched my last video we had i had couple of machines okay so i created one web server using a standard ami amazon linux and then with that i took a snapshot created one image and from that image i launched this particular web server now that image is over here and its private and its available but its probably costing me some money for storage and i dont want that i want to get rid of this particular image from my account so the way you do that youre going to come over here youre going to select that particular image again the way to come over here go back to aws go to ec2 dashboard then come down to the images it looks like internet maybe a little slow easy to dashboard yeah its just doing something so yeah its not working just give me one second to refresh the page okay now click on

To terminate an instance using the console Open the Amazon EC2 console at . In the navigation pane, choose Instances. Select the instance, and choose Actions, Instance State, Terminate. Choose Yes, Terminate when prompted for confirmation.
In the navigation pane, choose Snapshots. Select a snapshot to delete (look for the AMI ID from the prior step in the Description column). Choose Actions, Delete snapshot. When prompted for confirmation, choose Delete.
Put the AMI in a separate AWS account where users can access it (via sharing), but have no permission to delete it.
AMI is divided into two categories: EBS - backed Instances. Instance Store - backed Instances.
The answer is that you cannot replace the AMI for an existing EC2 instance. However, you can replace the root volume with a new volume which is basically the same thing. That new root volume can come from another EC2 instance.
To delete terminated EC2 Instances, locate the instance you want to delete in the EC2 Console under the Instances page. Click on the instance and select the Terminate option. Once youve selected terminate, you will receive a pop-up confirmation. Click yes to confirm.
Share an AMI (console) In the navigation pane, choose AMIs. Select your AMI in the list, and then choose Actions, Edit AMI permissions. Choose Private. Under Shared accounts, choose Add account ID. For AWS account ID, enter the AWS account ID with which you want to share the AMI, and then choose Share AMI.
Delete or terminate EC2 resources Stop or terminate all your EC2 instances and load balancers. Delete your Auto Scaling infrastructure. Release all Dedicated Hosts. Delete all EBS volumes and EBS snapshots. Release all Elastic IP addresses. Deregister all Amazon Machine Images (AMIs).
