To access the BIOS or System Setup on Dell computers: Press the F2 key several times at the Dell logo screen during startup. Or, press the F12 key several times at the Dell logo screen during startup, and select BIOS Setup or System Setup from the menu.
Use Dell BIOS to disable Pre-boot authentication Reboot the machine and press F2 at the Dell BIOS Splash Screen. Enter the System or Admin Password to access the BIOS settings. Navigate to Security Passwords. Select System Password. The System Password status will change to Not Set.
Here are the steps: Restart your Dell Inspiron Laptop. Press the F8 key when Windows start. The admin account will appear on the login screen. Press CTRL + ALT + DELETE keys simultaneously. Choose Switch User from the list of options and enter Administrator as username, and leave the password field blank. Press Enter.
To lock push the device into the device and push the little thumb lever until it clicks. No key required to lock it. The lock mechanism is slim and the cable swivels on it.
Assigning a system password and setup password To enter the system setup, press F2 immediately after a power-on or re-boot. In the System BIOS or System Setup screen, select Security and press Enter. The Security screen is displayed. Select System Password and create a password in the Enter the new password field.
How to disable Secure Boot in BIOS? Boot and press [F2] to enter BIOS. Go to [Security] tab [Default Secure boot on] and set as [Disabled]. Go to [Save Exit] tab [Save Changes] and select [Yes]. Go to [Security] tab and enter [Delete All Secure Boot Variables] and select [Yes] to proceed.
Press F2 to enter BIOS setup. If youre unsure what key to press, as the computer boots, try pressing and holding one or more keys on the keyboard to cause a stuck key error. Once you get this error, the option to continue or enter setup should appear.
Entering BIOS setup program Turn on (or restart) your computer. During POST, when the DELL logo is displayed, watch for the F2 prompt to appear, and then press F2 immediately.
In BIOS, look for the Security tab and form there you should be able to remove the Administrative password . .
Turn off the computer and disconnect the power cable from the computer. Locate the password reset jumper (PSWD) on the system board. Remove the jumper plug from the password jumper-pins. Power on without the jumper plug to clear the password.
