If you dont have the Private Key (or if you do not have control of the Private Key), then your computer will not allow you to use the certificate for anything. Setting a password on your certificate prevents other people from copying your certificate Private Key.
Topic Log in to the command line. Change directories to the /config/bigconfig/ssl.key/ directory, by typing the following command: cd /config/bigconfig/ssl.key/ Remove the password, by typing the following command: openssl rsa Type the existing passphrase when prompted.
With the ssh-keygen -p command. You will be asked for the keyfile location, old password then new password. On the new password prompt, leave it blank and hit Enter. This will remove the passphrase from the SSH key and you will not be prompted for it in the future.
Remove the passphrase: Use the `ssh-keygen` command to remove the passphrase from the key. The `-p` flag is used for changing the passphrase of a private key file. Youll be prompted to enter the old passphrase and then leave the new passphrase field blank.
If you lose your SSH key passphrase, theres no way to recover it. Youll need to generate a brand new SSH keypair or switch to HTTPS cloning so you can use a personal access instead. If you lose your SSH key passphrase, theres no way to recover it.
Removing a passphrase using OpenSSL Copy the private key file into your OpenSSL directory (or specify the path in the command below). Run this command: openssl rsa -in [original.key] -out [new.key] Enter the passphrase for the original key when asked. The output file [new. key] should now be unencrypted.
To remove the passphrase from an SSL certificate Remove any existing soft links to certificate and key files. Backup existing key file. On the SecureTrack server, run openssl to create a new certificate without a passphrase. Create new soft links to the key files. Change ownership and permission of your SSL certificate.
SSH passphrases protect your private key from being used by someone who doesnt know the passphrase. Without a passphrase, anyone who gains access to your computer has the potential to copy your private key. For example, family members, coworkers, system administrators, and hostile actors could gain access.
