Empty paragraphs appear as blank lines in your document. To remove them, just select them and delete them. (A paragraph in Word is any text that ends with a hard return.) To delete a page break, click it to select it, and then press Delete.
Move the mouse cursor to the beginning of the line of text you want to delete. Press and hold the left mouse button, then drag the mouse to the right until the entire line of text is highlighted. Press Backspace or Delete to delete the line of text.
You can remove a single hard return or paragraph mark by dragging over it and pressing Delete.
From the Find and Replace dialog box, pick More. This gives you the option to be able to refine how you find and replace. To remove hard returns from a text file, pick the Special option. Here youll see any number of different symbols and characters that you can find and replace, including the Paragraph Mark.
Open the document in Microsoft Word or another word processor. Move the mouse cursor to the beginning of the word you want to delete. Press and hold the left mouse button, then drag the mouse to the right until the entire word is highlighted. Press Backspace or Delete to delete the word.
This is the sequence that you could follow to do the deletion: Press Ctrl+Up Arrow. This moves the insertion point to the beginning of the paragraph. Press Ctrl+Shift+Down Arrow. This selects everything to the end of the paragraph. Press Delete.
Find the Display option from the list on the left-hand side of the pop-up windows screen. Look at the Always show these formatting marks on the screen, section, the second one down. Notice the checkbox next to the paragraph symbol labeled Paragraph marks. Unselect the box to turn off the paragraph marks.
Place the cursor next to the text then press Backspace key. Place the cursor to the left of the text then press Delete key. Select the text and press the Backspace or Delete key. Select the text and type over it the new text.
You dont have to go through all this to select and delete a paragraph or two. When this is the case, position the cursor at the beginning of the paragraph and press Ctrl+Shift+Down. Doing so will select everything to and including the paragraph mark. Continue to add lines to the selection by clicking Down.
