Incorrect rate of VAT on the invoice To correct the matter, you must issue a credit note and a revised invoice. If your VAT invoice shows a lower amount of VAT than is correct, you must issue a credit note for the full value of the invoice. A revised invoice must then be issued to show the correct VAT.
Delete a VAT adjustment Go to Settings ⚙️ and select Chart of accounts (Take me there). Find the income or expense account you used to add an adjustment. Select Run report. Select the adjustment you need to delete and then select Delete. Select Yes to confirm.
VAT numbers are only given to businesses that have actually registered for VAT, so if your business isnt VAT registered, its perfectly fine to send invoices that dont include a VAT number.
Heres how: Go to the Gear icon and select Account and Settings. In the Advanced section, click the pencil icon in Accounting. Update the Default tax selection to No VAT. Click Save and then Done.
HMRC stipulates that an invoice without VAT must still include the following details: The name, address and contact information of the company supplying the goods or services. An identifying invoice number that is unique and sequential. The name or the company name and address of the customer who is being invoiced.

If your business is registered for VAT, its important that your invoices display your VAT number. If you send an invoice that doesnt include your VAT number, it wont be considered a complete VAT invoice, and this could cause problems when its time to submit your VAT Return.
