i was inspired by the latest m365 ama panel with sherry oswald kirsty mcgrath and christian buckley talking about can you rest editing access for columns in a sharepoint list and i have an alternate approach for you to consider our example scenario is that we have a product team and a sales team and they want to create a centralized place to track product offerings price and sales now ill pause here just to say i dont recommend building this in sharepoint online necessarily there are a lot of off-the-shelf systems that could probably better support product and order management but i want to use this as a simple example the product team should not have access to edit the orders and the sales team should not have access to edit the products or price so the product and sales team came to me and said we created a list in our team site and we want to put in the purchase order number the quantity the title of the product and the cost but again we only want the product team to be able to en

Navigate to the SharePoint library where your documents are stored. Right-Click on the document and choose Manage Access from the menu. Click on the Advanced link at the bottom of the Manage Access Pane and click on the Delete Unique Permissions button from the ribbon. Confirm the prompt once!
In the Settings page, in the middle column under Permissions and Management, select Delete this document library. (If you do not see this option listed, then you do not have permission to delete this library and you need to contact your site administrator.) If youre sure you want to delete the library, select OK.
Here are the steps: Select the file or folder you want to stop sharing. Select Information. On the Details pane, under the Has Access header, youll see the People icon, the Links icon, and/or the Email icon. To remove a sharing link, click the X next to the link to remove it.
Go to the Permissions page for the list, library, or survey using the steps in the previous section. In the Name list, select the checkbox next to the name of the user or group that you want to remove permissions from. Select Remove User Permissions.

We can reset the permission inheritance and delete unique permissions for a site/web/folder/item level where the inheritance is previously broken. E.g., for a library: Go to your library, click on Library Settings. In the settings page, under users and permissions, click on Permissions for this document library
So, How do we disable delete options? Well, if you want to disable the delete list option from list settings in SharePoint (and in other places, too!), you can set the AllowDeletion property of the List or Library to False. Once this is set, delete options go hidden!

To break permissions inheritance: Log in to your SharePoint site. Open the library that you want to change permissions to. On the Library Tools menu, select the Library tab. On the ribbon, click the Library Settings button. Click on the Permissions for this document library link. Click Stop Inheriting Permissions.
Prerequisites Click on the Restore Permissions in the Manage ribbon. Choose restore options: Directly Assigned Permissions Restore permissions for users with directly assigned role assignments. SharePoint Group Memberships Principals will be added or removed from groups.
