A corporate seal is a stamp or embossed seal (that leaves an indentation on the paper) that contains the name of the corporation. Documents that are approved by the corporation are sometimes stamped or embossed by a corporate seal in order to confirm that the documents have been properly approved by the corporation.
At the moment, seals are utilized to authenticate documents like birth records, marriage records, and real property deeds. Furthermore, they are used for authenticating signatures which a Notary Public witnesses and also in the formalization of corporate documents.
The word SEAL at the end of (or below) a signature line means signature. For example, a mortgage note or Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac Texas Deed of Trust will have (Seal) at the end of the line for the borrowers signature. A persons signature is considered their seal.
The seal is used to execute a legal document or guarantee the documents authenticity. A seal is unique to a sealer and is used by government agencies, corporations and notaries public to show that the document is validly executed, acknowledged or witnessed.
Seals were historically used in English law to provide further verification of the identity and assent of the party affixing such seal. A common example is pressing a signet ring bearing the signatorys family crest into hot wax poured on the document.
They are used to leave a company embossment on official documents such as deeds, statutory documents and share certificates. While a company stamp is not required, they are commonly preferred by businesses to quickly leave a professional mark on documents that do not require an official company seal.
In the 19th Century, companies signing a contract would press their seal into wax on the contract document. The purpose was to prove the handwritten signature wasnt forged. If later there was a dispute, the court only had to compare the seal in the wax to the companys seal to see if they matched.
Sealed document means a document that the court has directed be maintained under seal electronically or, where the court allows a sealed document to be filed non-electronically, within a sealed enclosure such that access to the document requires breaking the seal of the enclosure; and Sealing order means any order
