Just go to the table you wish to redefine your index and go to design view. Select the field you wish to alter and apply the Primary Key option button (as shown on image bellow).
As shown, indexes can speed up some queries and slow down others. In this article, we provided some basic guidelines for clustered and non-clustered indexes, as well as which columns are preferred to build indexes on, and which should be avoided.
The DROP INDEX command is used to delete an index in a table.
To delete an index by using Object Explorer In Object Explorer, expand the database that contains the table on which you want to delete an index. Expand the Tables folder. Expand the table that contains the index you want to delete. Expand the Indexes folder. Right-click the index you want to delete and select Delete.

You can usually get away without indexing a small database or a database that you
The syntax of the DROP INDEX statement is simple as follows: DROP INDEX [schema_name.] ... DECLARE index_count INTEGER; BEGIN SELECT COUNT(*) INTO index_count FROM USER_INDEXES WHERE INDEX_NAME = 'index_name'; IF index_count > 0 THEN EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'DROP INDEX index_name'; END IF; END; / ... DROP INDEX members_name_i;
How you drop an index depends on whether you created the index explicitly with a CREATE INDEX statement, or implicitly by defining a key constraint on a table. If you created the index explicitly with the CREATE INDEX statement, then you can drop the index with the DROP INDEX statement.
What is Indexing? Indexing makes columns faster to query by creating pointers to where data is stored within a database. Imagine you want to find a piece of information that is within a large database. To get this information out of the database the computer will look through every row until it finds it.
END LOOP; END; It drops all indexes which are not referenced by the constraints of the table. It is important, because the drop statement will fail if the table has a constraint created using the specified index.
If you update a table, the system has to maintain those indexes that are on the columns being updated. So having a lot of indexes can speed up select statements, but slow down inserts, updates, and deletes.
