Remove duplicates DOES NOT work if number formats are different. It is very literal in that even if the format is different it will assume it is not a duplicate. So the numbers 10 and 10.00 will be seen as unique and not deleted.
Go to the Data tab Data Tools group, and click the Remove Duplicates button. The Remove Duplicates dialog box will open, you select the columns to check for duplicates, and click OK.
When the Excel Options window appears, click on the Formulas option on the left. Then uncheck the option called R1C1 reference style and click on the OK button. Now when you return to your spreadsheet, the column headings should be letters (A, B, C, D) instead of numbers (1, 2, 3, 4).
Or, use the Shift + arrow keyboard shortcut to select the range you want. Click on the Data tab at the top. Click Remove Duplicates to reveal a pop-up. Uncheck any columns with data you want to keep. Click OK to delete the duplicates. Hover over Highlight Cell Rules Choose Duplicate Values from the options.
Note: Excel does not remove personal information from shared workbooks. On the Excel menu, click Preferences. Under Sharing and Privacy, click Security . Select the Remove personal information from this file on save check box. Save the workbook. Notes: The following personal information is removed from your file:
Tip. You can highlight only the range that contains the values you want to remove. Then use the shortcut Ctrl + - (minus on the main keyboard) to get the standard Excel Delete dialog box allowing you to select the Entire row radio button, or any other deleting option you may need.
