Remove comma from Text String Select the dataset. Click the Home tab. In the Editing group, click on the Find Replace option. Click on Replace. This will open the Find and Replace dialog box. Special characters (, , , etc) in downloaded CSV files On a Windows computer, open the CSV file using Notepad. Click File Save As. In the dialog window that appears - select ANSI from the Encoding field. Then click Save. Open this new CSV file using Excel.
A simpler solution is to import the file into Microsoft Excel and then save it as plain Unicode text, which removes the comma delimiters but renders a readable text file that you can use in a word-processing application.
How to change the field separator (delimiter) in Excel when saving as a CSV file In Microsoft Windows, click the Start button, and then click Control Panel. Open the dialog box for changing Regional and Language settings. In the dialog box, look for the List separator setting. Enter the desired list separator.
Delete special characters with Ultimate Suite On the Ablebits Data tab, in the Text group, click Remove Remove Characters. On the add-ins pane, pick the source range, select Remove character sets and choose the desired option from the dropdown list (Symbols punctuation marks in this example). Hit the Remove button.
By default, the escape character is a (double quote) for CSV-formatted files. If you want to use a different escape character, use the ESCAPE clause of COPY , CREATE EXTERNAL TABLE or gpload to declare a different escape character.
Select your column (e.g. left click on A, B, or C) Right-click on column and select Format Columns. Under Number tab, uncheck Use 1000 Separator (,)
Removing a Semicolon (;) in a CSV File Change the decimal separator to dot (.) in regional settings within the operating system. Open the CSV file in Notepad and replace all the semicolons with a comma with the find all and replace function. Once saved, try the import again.
If you want to remove only one special character, you can use the SUBSTITUTE function (see more in this article Remove Unwanted Characters). If you do want to use a single formula to remove special characters, you will need to use a User Defined Function (UDF), like RemoveSpecChar.
Click Windows/Start and select Control Panel. Select Region and Language and click on the Formats tab. Click on Additional Setting and locate the List Separator. Change the Decimal separator from a full stop (.) to a comma (,).
