You can end your tenancy at any time by giving your landlord notice if you have a periodic tenancy. Youll have to pay your rent to the end of your notice period. Youll have a periodic tenancy if: youve never had a fixed term and you have a rolling tenancy - for example, it runs from month to month or week to week.

Date of Lease This is date the lease was created, so generally this is the completion date of the first sale and is found at the beginning of the document. Commencement date This is the date that the term of the lease runs from and will often be found in the Definitions or following the Term.
If it is a statutory periodic tenancy, tenants must give at least 1 months notice for a monthly contract or at least 4 weeks notice for a weekly contract. The notice must end on the first or last day of the tenancy period.
