In this video, were going to learn how to delete preloaded sample data in new Salesforce organizations. When users begin a trial or subscription with Salesforce, their org comes with a set of sample data. This data includes accounts, contacts and opportunities. The sample data is included to demonstrate Salesforce functionality. There are options so you can mass delete these records in the org. Option number one. Delete all data if your org is still in the trial status. (bright music) Log into the org. (bright music) Click on the gear icon. (bright music) And select setup. Enter delete into the quick find box. Select delete all data. In order to continue with this operation, you must type in the following text exactly as it appears into the text box. To permanently delete records, select Permanently delete the selected records. Important Selecting this option prevents you from recovering the selected records from the Recycle Bin. Click Delete. If you did not select Permanently delete the selected records, deleted items are moved to the Recycle Bin.
If you have the record open, in the upper right there will be a Delete button, or a drop-down to the right of the buttons that contains the Delete option. Go back to the record and refresh it and you should then see the Delete button, or it will be available in the drop-down to the right of the buttons that appear.
Salesforce offers a native mass delete functionality that, while somewhat limited, is secure: From Setup, enter Mass Delete Records in the Quick Find box. Select Mass Delete Records and click the link for the type of record to delete. Review the information that is deleted from the records.
1. From the Salesforce inspector, you have to select the option Data Import and then select the delete option from actions and Object name. 2. You have to create an Excel file where you have to store the IDs of all those records that you want to delete and then paste the Excel over there.
To mass delete only sample data, follow the steps below: Locate a sample record (any Account or Contact will do). Navigate to Setup. Enter Delete into the Quick Find box and select Mass Delete Records from the results. Select a type of Record that you wish to delete, such as Accounts.
To archive or delete content files: On the Libraries, Content, or Subscriptions tab, click the name of the file you want to remove. On the Content Details page, click Edit | Archive Content or Edit | Delete Content.
If you have a trial account of Salesforce, and at any time you decide to delete all the data including the sample data, that is, the data you stored in the Salesforce trial organization, follow these instructions: Navigate to Setup | Data Management | Delete All Data.
