The answer is often no, they arent always truly anonymous, and answers could be linked back up to a person. That said, there are ways to create trustworthy surveys anyway.
75% of survey respondents prefer anonymity. The justification for the anonymity is that if employees dont have to reveal who they are, theyll not fear retribution from management, which in turn will lead to more of them taking the survey, and more honesty in the responses.
