This is easy function for Microsoft Excel but most of the time you dont know where to find it. So lets get started and Im going to add a strikethrough to all these seven cells and Im going to select them now Im going to click on this arrow button okay now if you click there this format cells dialog box will pop up and take a look at here effects and here you will find a strikethrough if you check mark this option and click OK and Done. You can see now all these seven cells has been strikethrough. So if you undo that option just click on this arrow again now uncheck this strikethrough option and click OK. In normal cases, the HMRC tax investigation time limit is 4 years, in which they can go back to claim money from taxpayers. If someone has been visibly careless (submitting tax returns with mistakes), HMRC can journey back 6 years.
Usually you can correct the error and try to e-file again. IRS.gov has a tool to walk you through common rejections. If you make the correction and the IRS still rejects the return, you can send it to the IRS by mail. (For more information about e-filing, see Free File Options.)
There are time limits for correcting mistakes on tax returns. Tax returns can be amended within 12 months of the normal 31 January filing deadline (extended if the return is issued late). This should be done on-line for returns originally submitted on-line and on paper for returns originally submitted on paper.

If you did not claim it and later realise you should have, you can amend your return and claim a refund of extra tax paid. You can only amend your return to claim MDR within 12 months of the filing date on your original return. It usually takes 15 to 20 working days to process your claim.
