so periodically i see that restaurant groups have applications in their restaurants or a link to an online application that asks the candidate for their date of birth or their social security number and you really shouldnt have those things listed on the application so i would check your applications and make sure you dont have those listed and if you do i would remove them right away also there is a law called ban the box and this law essentially doesnt allow employers to ask the candidate to check a box saying whether or not theyve been convicted of a crime theres a whole lot of states and cities across the country that require that you remove this box im going to add a link to this video and you should check your state and see if the law is in effect and if it is i would remove that immediately from the application as well thank you

But a single typo isnt likely to torpedo your candidacy for most jobs. That said, youll definitely find hiring managers who are super rigid about typos, on the assumption that you put a huge amount of time and care into your resume and cover letter, and if youre sloppy here, youre likely to be sloppy elsewhere.
If you discover a major factual error after you apply, its best to resubmit your application. Employers will keep your resume on file even if you are not hired, and they often go back through their records to find candidates for open roles.
You can send an email or letter expressing appreciation for the employers time and consideration, with the option to include a reason such as how the position wasnt a good fit. Or you can call the hiring manager and advise them that youve had a change in circumstances.
Im so excited to apply for [role] at [company]. However, I just realized in my excitement that I submitted the wrong [resume/cover letter]. Would it be possible to update my application with the correct information? Thank you so much, and apologies for the confusion!
Proofread your cover letter Typos, misspellings, or incorrect grammar and punctuation can send your application right into the trash pile. Your letter reflects your ability to write and communicate, and your attention to detail. Be sure your document is letter-perfect before sending it out. Proofread your letter.
Many people withdraw job applications once they realize that the position isnt right for them. While withdrawing an application might mean you cant apply to the same job again, canceling an application effectively and professionally can allow you to reapply to the company in the future if you want to.
It is impossible to undo a job application when applying for a role. Please make sure you want to apply and proofread the note in your application before submitting it. However, you can update your job profile and update your resume after submitting a job application.
I say, Yes, definitely fix the error(s) and resend your letter. First, if you emailed your cover letter to the wrong addressee, all you have to do is fix the name and address and send it to the right person. Second, if youre not that lucky, apologize for addressing the wrong person.
Some employers may be forgiving when they see a typo if its a minimal misspelling of a word or one missing comma. Other employers may see any number of typos as a reason to disregard your resume. The importance of a typo may even rely on the type of job to which you are applying.
