To remove conditional formatting from specific cells, select the cells, click the Quick Analysis button, and click Clear Format. To remove all conditional formatting from the entire worksheet,click the Conditional Formatting button on the HOME tab, point to Clear Rules, and click Clear Rules from Entire Sheet.
On the Format tab, click Conditional Formatting. In the Conditional Formatting Rules Manager dialog box, click New Rule. Enter the criteria for your rule. To format the field(s) based on the values they contain, select Field Value Is from the first list, and then select or enter the criteria you want.
On the Home tab, under Format, click Conditional Formatting. Point to Color Scales, and then click the color scale format that you want. The top color represents larger values, the center color, if any, represents middle values, and the bottom color represents smaller values.
You can use the Conditional Formatting to replace text and NOT effect any formulas. Simply go to the Rules format where you will see Number, Font, Border and Fill. Go to the Number tab and select CUSTOM. Then simply type where it says TYPE: what you want to say in QUOTES.

Change the text color for a cell or range of cells Select the cell or range of cells that has the data you want to format. You can also select just a portion of the text within a cell. On the Home tab, choose the arrow next to Font Color . Under Theme Colors or Standard Colors, choose a color.
