Delete a text box Click the border of the text box that you want to delete, and then press DELETE. To delete multiple check boxes at the same time, hold down CTRL, and click the border of each text box in turn, and then press DELETE.
Press and hold the Shift key. Select the header of the first row or column you want to select. Select the header of the last row or column you want to select. Release the Shift key.

Please ensure you are in Normal view. To check, click the sheet tab on which you have this issue, click View tab on the ribbon and check if Normal is selected in the Workbook Views group. Try deleting/ inserting rows/columns again.
To delete all checkboxes, press and hold CTRL, then click on each checkbox to select all and press DELETE on the keyboard.
