How to Describe Your Methods Firmly tie your methods to the proposed programs objectives and needs statement. Link them to the resources you are requesting in the proposal budget. Explain why you chose these methods by including research, expert opinion, and your experience.
Here are the six questions (in order) that I find to be the most helpful when editing a grant proposal: WERE THE QUESTIONS ANSWERED? WAS THE EVALUATION CRITERIA MET? HOWS THE GRAMMAR, SPELLING, WRITING STYLE? IS THE PROPOSAL ALIGNED WITH THE APPLICATION? WERE ALL FORMATTING REQUIREMENTS MET?
Tip #6: Use Bulleted Lists In proposals, magazine articles, and blog posts, bulleted lists are a mainstay. Bulleted lists are a popular way to communicate information because they are faster to scan than densely written paragraphs. Bulleted lists also introduce more white space into a document, which helps readability.
At the end of your cover letter, consider emphasizing that youre willing to discuss the proposal further and answer questions the reader may have. This can also be an opportunity for you to ask to meet the recipient in person to market your project.
Some RFPs include a conclusion section. This is where you can restate the purpose of your grant proposal and the outcomes that can be expected if you receive funding.
End with a hopeful statement such as I look forward to speaking with you more about this program. The letter needs to be signed by your executive director or board chairman. And make sure to include the full name and title of the signer below the signature.
How to write a grant proposal Write a strong cover letter. Start with a short executive summary. Introduce your organization. Write a direct problem statement. State your goals and objectives. Project design: methods and strategies. The evaluation section: tracking success. Other funding sources and sustainability.
Executive Summary. Grant proposals typically lead with an executive summary; however, you may want to write this section last. Just as its title suggests, this is a summary of your proposal. An executive summary is your first impression, high-level overview of your project.
