First aid is as easy as ABC airway, breathing and CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation). In any situation, apply the DRSABCD Action Plan. DRSABCD stands for: Danger always check the danger to you, any bystanders and then the injured or ill person.
This depends on how big your practice is: If you have less than five workers, you should have at least one appointed person to look after first aid. If you have five or more workers, you might want to consider having a least one person trained in basic emergency first aid at work (EFAW a one-day course).
How long should you keep health and safety documents? Most health and safety records need to be kept for five years; however, risk assessment records should be kept if the process or activity is performed. Also, civil claims for injury can be made up to three years after an incident.
One appointed person is the minimum legal requirement for every workplace with 25 employees. If you have more than 50 employees, only one first aider for every 100 employees is the guidance, so if you have 101 employees, you need at least two first aiders.
Keep the incident report on file: Documentation should be kept for as long as necessary to defend against potential claims. If the reporter is an adult, keep the incident documentation on file for at least five years after the statute of limitations passes for that type of claim.
All written records of first aid reports must be kept for three (3) years after the date of injury. A first aid kit is a container containing the supplies required by this part.

Successful participants will be qualified to work as WorkSafeBC OFA Level 2 first aid attendants.
First aid records must be kept for 3 years for all injuries and illnesses that are reported or treated. First aid records are confidential and restricted to individuals who need access for reasons related to the workplace safety and health program.
