The B pencils have black tones. H pencils make stronger marks on paper permitting indentation. B pencils dont make such indentations. What they do is have darker tones of black.
Which Pencils Do I Use for Actual Writing? F through 4B. For the best balance of smoothness and legibility, I prefer pencils that fall on the darker side of the HB designation, typically a 2B pencil.
Blackwing 602 Pencil - Firm This pencil is a fan-favourite and an all-time bestseller for a reason. It offers great point retention while still gliding smoothly across the paper, making it ideal for writers and artists who dont want to compromise on either aspect.
The Darkest Pencils Staedtler Mars Lumograph 100 12B: A wonderfully dark pencil with a super soft, oversized core. Faber-Castell Pitt Graphite Matt pencil 12B: Mitsubishi Hi-Uni 10B. Musgrave 600 News. Caran DAche Grafwood 9B. Generals Charcoal Pencil 6B.
If you use the standard HB lead, it will come out slightly darker, since the point if smaller however, if you use a 2B lead, it has a much darker. The darkness continues up until 4B. Keep in mind that the 4B is much more brittle than HB and even 2B. I recommend 2B as a starting point for a noticeable darker text.
HB and 2B are different graphite grades used in art pencils. HB is a medium hardness pencil, while 2B is softer and darker. Artists use HB pencils for general writing and sketching, while 2B pencils are preferred for shading due to their ability to produce darker tones and smoother gradients.
