TIFFs are typically uncompressed files or use lossless compression. This results in very high quality images and, subsequently, very large file sizes. Note: a JPEG that is converted into a TIFF will not have a lossless image quality.
Because of their large size, TIFF files usually arent used for everyday marketing content. While a TIFF file might be the original creative file, it will likely be converted to another format to be used in slide decks, websites, and other marketing materials. Avoid TIFF files for: Web graphics.
The TIFF image appears black as the palette of shades the computer screen has is way more limited than that of the TIFF image (256 levels per color on the computer screen versus 65536 levels per color in the TIFF file).
Once the file is uploaded, click on the Edit button next to the file name. In the editing toolbar, click on the Darken Image option. A new window will appear with a slider that allows you to adjust the darkness level of the images. Move the slider to the right to darken the images or to the left to lighten them.
Both PNG and TIFF files benefit from lossless compression, meaning that no matter how often you save, open, or resize them, theyll maintain their quality.
TIFF is uncompressed. Since TIFF does not use any compression algorithms like JPEG or GIF formats, the file contains more data and results in a more detailed picture.
Another difference is that TIFF files support layers, whereas JPEG files do not. This means that you can edit a TIFF file and change the order of the layers, whereas with a JPEG file you can only edit the image as a whole. Finally, TIFF files use the RGB color model, whereas JPEG files use the CMYK colour model.
However, during compression some of the original image data is lost, causing a noticeable loss in picture resolution. Like JPEGs, TIFFs are a raster graphic file, but this format uses lossless compression to retain image data. This means that TIFF files are generally large.
