Resolution Click File Options. Click Advanced. Under Editing options, clear both the Use the Insert key to control overtype mode and the Use overtype mode check boxes.
You can do this from the menu Tools - AutoCorrect Options. You can either go to the Options tab and turn off Capitalize First Letter Of Every Sentence or you can add your abbreviations to the list on the Exceptions tab.
You can toggle between INSRT = insert and OVER = overwrite. Click in the field to toggle the modes. If the cursor is positioned in a text document, you may also use the Insert key (if available on your keyboard) to toggle the modes.
Re: Text overwrite If you type ctrl+A (thats the A key with the control key held down) or double click with the mouse ( treble click if longer than one word) then whats in the textbox will all be selected and anything you then type will replace it.
To apply color to text in OpenOffice.org Writer, you select the text, then click and hold down on a text color icon, find the color you want, and click the color. (Note that right now before the color is applied, the color under the A of the font color icon is white.)
If there is a caption, select the picture (if frame is selected first, hit enter and select the picture) cut it and paste it elsewhere, then remove the frame. If youre talking about the gray border around the pic, you can disable it in ToolsOptionsOOoAppearance, then Objects (IIRC).
