DOT drug tests require laboratory testing (49 CFR Part 40 Subpart F) for the following five classes of drugs: Marijuana. Cocaine. Opiates opium and codeine derivatives. Amphetamines and methamphetamines. Phencyclidine PCP.
If the temperature of a urine specimen is outside the range of 90 F to 100 F (32 C to 38 C), that is a reason to believe the donor may have altered (e.g., adulterated or diluted) or substituted the specimen.
Open the sealed collection cup in the employees presence. Check the specimen for sufficient volume (45 mL), temperature (F 90-100), and signs of unusual color, odor, or other signs of adulteration. Always collect a split specimen.
You must check the temperature of the specimen no later than four minutes after the employee has given you the specimen. The acceptable temperature range is 3238 C/90100 F. You must determine the temperature of the specimen by reading the temperature strip attached to the collection container.
temperature range of 90 100 degrees, the donor must immediately submit a second specimen under direct observation, after dumping the original specimen in front of the donor.
If you fail to provide a sufficient amount of urine when directed, and it has been determined, through a required medical evaluation, that there was no adequate medical explanation for the failure, it may be considered a refusal to test. When you report for testing, you must make an attempt to provide a specimen.
The observer must watch the urine go from the employees body into the collection container. The observer must watch as the employee takes the specimen to the collector. The collector then completes the collection process.
Urine is generally the same temperature as the body on average 98.6F. This means that when the urine comes out of the urinary tract, called the urethra, it can feel warm on the skin that it touches, including the genitals, hands, or legs. In cold temperatures, a person may observe steam rising from urine.
