Lighten an area using the Dodge tool Stroke across the painted texture in the areas you want to lighten. Color values for the pixels are lightened in the areas you stroke. Hue and saturation are not affected. Stroking repeatedly in the same area on the texture image causes more lightening of the pixels.
In the Layer menu, select Layer Mask, then Reveal all. Use the Gradient tool to draw a line from inside the image toward the side or corner you want to fade away. Play around with this until the appropriate effect is achieved. Make sure a BW gradient is in the Gradient toolbar.
Set your cameras ISO to a low level, from 100 to 125. This decreases the cameras sensitivity to light, which will darken your photos background and remove unwanted texture. Adjust your shutter speed to compensate for these changes.
Photoshop has dedicated Dodge and Burn tools, which you can use to zero in on anything that needs lightening or darkening. Try using them to brighten the eyes in a portrait or create a darker vignette at the edges of a photo.
The Dodge tool allows you to lighten specific areas of your image without affecting hue or saturation. Select the Dodge tool (O) . Use the Options bar to customize tool settings, like brush size, range, and exposure, to get the effect you want.
Using the Gradient tool, draw a line across your image mask layer. This will result in a gradual fade across the line you have drawn. Expand it: You can experiment further with the tool by adding another photo beneath your main image layer to fade two images together, or try changing the colors for color fade effects.
How To Darken The Edges Of A Photo Step 1: Duplicate The Background Layer. Step 2: Open The Lens Correction Filter. Step 3: Turn Off The Grid. Step 4: Drag The Vignette Amount Slider To The Left To Darken The Edges. Step 5: Adjust The Midpoint Slider. Step 6: Fine-Tune The Effect By Adjusting The Opacity Of The Layer.
