Burn and Dodge tool To use these tools, simply select the tool you want to use, then set the brush you want to use and the range (Midtones, Shadows or Highlights) from the options bar. In the options bar, select one of the following from the Range menu: Specify the exposure for the Dodge tool or the Burn tool. Click the airbrush button to use the brush as an airbrush.
The Dodge tool allows you to lighten specific areas of your image without affecting hue or saturation. Select the Dodge tool (O) . Use the Options bar to customize tool settings, like brush size, range, and exposure, to get the effect you want. Drag over the part of the image you want to lighten.
