The opposite is actually true: Wood stains tend to appear lighter when theyre fully dry. However, stains may darken as they weather and oxidize with age. Stains might also darken on surfaces left in direct sunlight, as UV rays can break down pigment particles and cause them to darken over time.
Sealers, particularly solvent-based sealers, will darken concrete. If unevenly applied, it will create light areas where there is less sealer, and darker areas where theres more. If applied by sprayer, it may appear like stripes. Uneven roller application may leave darkened roller marks.
Ready Seals life expectancy is 1-3 yrs on horizontal surfaces, and 3-5 years on vertical surfaces.
The chemical stains (or acid stains) react with the concretes lime content and produce the color. If the concrete surface is painted or sealed, acid stains cannot penetrate the concrete and react with the lime. Therefore, a concrete surface that is painted or sealed cannot be acid stained.
Once applied, it can withstand rain within minutes and will be completely dried within 48-72 hours, depending on temperature.
Painting or staining over Ready Seal with other coatings is not recommended and may cause reapplication to be difficult.
Ready Seal does go on darker than its ultimate color and docHubes its advertised color after something like 7-14 days.
ONE OR TWO COATS? Ready Seal is intended to be a two-coat application, and the representation of tones above and on the Ready Seal website is indicative of two coats of Ready Seal.
