Using a Paste of Olive Oil and Baking Soda This natural remedy helps reduce and remove scratches from your wood surface. To apply, combine equal parts of olive oil and baking soda to create a paste. Then, apply the paste to the scratches and allow it to sit for a day before wiping it off.
If you have a scratch on your polyurethane coated floor, then the process for repair is a little different. You will need: Scouring pad, soft cloth, mineral spirits, polyurethane. For deeper scratches you will need a wood putty and sandpaper. Lightly moisten your scouring pad with mineral spirits.
You have several options: stain markers, floor wax sticks, or a hardwood touch-up kit. Just rub the marker or wax stick over the scuffed area. Then buff it with a soft cloth to restore the floors shine. If you cant find a matching color for your hardwood, you might have to mix colors to find an appropriate match.
Moisten a cotton ball or swab with white vinegar (distilled). Dab the damaged area with the vinegar-soaked cotton ball to slightly swell the leather. Allow the area to dry. Polish the area using a colorless shoe polish for optimal results.
Removing scuff marks from shoes can be done using common household items like baking soda, toothpaste or a pencil eraser. Gently scrub the scuff marks with the chosen method until they lift off, then wipe the shoes clean with a damp cloth.

Small scratches can usually be rubbed out with polishing compound. The rule of thumb is that if your fingernail doesnt catch on the scratch, its just a superficial clear coat scratch that can be smoothed out and made invisible.
For minor scratches, try using a wood filler or a touch-up pen that matches the woods color. Apply the filler or pen to the scratch and gently buff the area to blend it with the surrounding wood. For deeper scratches, consider using a wood stain marker or sanding and refinishing the affected area.
