The difference in brightness between light and dark areas of an image. Contrast determines the number of shades in the image. A low-contrast image (left) retains detail, but tends to lack dimension and look soft. An image with normal contrast (center) retains detail and dimension, and looks crisp.
The difference in brightness between light and dark areas of an image. Contrast determines the number of shades in the image.
An iris diaphragm is used to control the intensity, or brightness, of light which passes through the specimen, thus allowing the operator to adjust the intensity and achieve an optimum viewing contrast. The lens system forms the actual image which you will see when you look through a microscope.
Under Picture Tools, on the Format tab, in the Adjust group, click Brightness. Click the brightness percentage that you want. To-fine tune the amount of brightness, click Picture Corrections Options, and then move the Brightness slider, or enter a number in the box next to the slider.
Increasing the brightness to make the image overall brighter, and decreasing will make it darker. Contrast works by adjusting the bright and dark parts of an image in relation to each other. When the Contrast is decreased, the image becomes grayer and the colors are less sharp.
Making a Dark Picture Lighter Use the Brightness/Contrast or Levels tools to boost contrast and give your image a bit more punch. Then use the Vibrance or Hue/Saturation controls to restore a little of the lost color, should you need to. You should now have a bright, well exposed, and great-looking photo.
Brightness increases the overall lightness of the imagefor example, making dark colors lighter and light colors whiterwhile contrast adjusts the difference between the darkest and lightest colors. Below is an example of adjustments made to the brightness and contrast of an image.
Brightness refers to the absolute value of colors (tones) lightness/darkness. Increasing brightness of an image will light out all colors so the original light ones will become up to white. Reversely, decreasing brightness will darken all colors so the original shaded ones will become up to black.
The microscope rheostat control can be found on the side of the compound microscope body. It will typically be a knob that is turned clockwise in order to increase the light intensity, or counter-clockwise to reduce the light.
The brightness adjustment function is to adjust the tone curve by changing the middle point value of the brightness of the entire image. The brightness adjustment is the adjustment of the output value at base point where the input value (horizontal axis) in curve view area is 50%.
