Before you share an important document with colleagues or clients, there are a couple things you can do to finalize and protect it. Youamp;#39;ll find everything you need in the backstage view under Protect Document and Inspect Document. Inspect Document will let you remove any hidden personal information thatamp;#39;s stored in the file itself. Itamp;#39;ll also check for document elements that you generally donamp;#39;t want in the final draft; for example, tracked changes that you forgot to accept or reject. Some of the changes from the inspector canamp;#39;t be undone, so itamp;#39;s a good idea to save an extra copy before you continue. When youamp;#39;re ready, go ahead and click Check for Issues choose Inspect Document from the menu then click Inspect in the dialog box. The results will appear with an exclamation mark next to anything that may contain sensitive information. Redaction Tool For Microsoft Word To use the redaction tool in Word, you first need to select the text or images that you want to redact. Then, go to the Review tab in the ribbon and click on the Redact button.

Select the text you want to redact by highlighting it. Right-click on the selected text and choose Font from the drop-down menu. In the Font dialog box, check the box next to Hidden under the Effects section. Click on the OK button to apply the redaction.
