What’s up guys, in this short tutorial, I will show you how to darken areas of an image in Photoshop CC. This should be quite an easy tutorial, everything you need will be listed in the description below. After importing an image to Photoshop, make sure that it’s not set as your background layer. In case it is, then right-click the layer and select “Layer from Background”. Next, select your “Dodge Tool” in your toolbar. You will see this circle as your cursor, indicating the width of your tool. You can change the size with this slider system on top, as well as the hardness. When left clicking and moving over your image, you can see that this tool will, by default, brighten up what you select. In your toolbar, right-click the “Dodge Tool” and select the “Burn Tool”. This will darken up areas of your image. You should tweak your exposure to increase or decrease the darkening amount. In most cases you will have to reduce this option to around 25%. I hope this helped you out, leave a comm...

Go to Layer - New Adjustment Layer - Brightness/Contrast (alternatively, you can open the Adjustments panel and click on the Brightness/Contrast icon). Drag the slider that controls Contrast to the right to increase the images contrast. The Contrast range is between -50 and 100.
The Burn tool darkens areas of an image. The more you paint over an area with the Burn tool, the darker it becomes. From the toolbar, click and hold the icon for the Dodge, Burn, or Sponge retouching tool, whichever is active.
Long press on the Add Layer button (the plus symbol) in the taskbar on the right and choose Adjustment Layer Curves. In the Layer Properties panel that appears, pull down on the center of the curve line to darken the image.
To do this, go to Layer New Adjustment Layer Levels. Then, in the Levels window, drag the black slider to the right until you get the desired darkness. You can also darken an area by using a Curves Adjustment Layer.
The Lighten tool is used to lighten a specific area of an image.
0% will make the image completely black. 100% (1) is default and represents the original image. Values over 100% will provide brighter results.
CSS has a filter property that can be used with a variety of filter functions. One of them is the brightness() filter. By feeding a percentage less than 100% to brightness() , the target element will be made darker. Inversely, feeding a percentage greater than 100% to brightness() will make the element brighter.
You can lighten or darken areas of a texture image using the Dodge and Burn tools. The Dodge tool lightens color values as you stroke and is useful for revealing highlights, while the Burn tool darkens color values and is useful for toning down highlights.
The Exposure tool brightens or darkens your photo. Drag the slider right to brighten the image, or left to darken it. The Exposure tool has more effect on the highlights than the shadows. This means that the bright tones in your photo are affected more than the dark tones.
The brightness() function can be used as a value to apply a linear multiplier to make it appear darker or lighter than the original. To make an image darker, any value below 100% could be used to darken the image by that percentage.
