Sometimes we need to programatically lighten or darken a given hex color in JavaScript. The following snippet does just that: const newShade = (hexColor, magnitude) = { hexColor = hexColor.
To get a bright version of the color, just use brighten() instead, again passing it a value between 0 and 100, representing how bright of a color you want to get back. // My original color var originalColor = tinycolor(#ff0000); // New, darker color var newColor = originalColor. brighten(25).
where R, G, and B are the red, green, and blue values of the color, respectively. If the brightness value is greater than or equal to 128, the color is considered light. If the brightness value is less than 128, the color is considered dark.
They are always a six-digit code, which contains three pieces of information: The first two digits provide information about the amount of Red in a color. The second two digits provide information about the amount of Green. The last two digits provide information about the amount of Blue.
To generate a lighter or darker color using JavaScript, you can use the HSL (Hue, Saturation, Lightness) color model. First, convert your color from RGB or HEX to HSL. Then, adjust the lightness value to make the color lighter or darker. Finally, convert the color back to RGB or HEX.
Now, to generate a darker version of a color all we need to do is to create a color object by passing a hex code string to tinycolor, and then run the function darken(value), passing it a value between 0 and 100, depending on how much darker you want it.
Heres a step-by-step approach: Create a Color Picker: Use the element to enable users to pick a color from the palette. Retrieve the Hex Value: Get the hex value returned by the color picker. Display the Hex Code: Set the selected color as the background and display its corresponding hex code.
