Dusk (Evening) Sky Flats If you are taking dusk flats, point the telescope about 1 hour East of the Zenith, and rotate the dome so the slit is facing East (away from the setting Sun). Be sure the telescope tracking and autodome are ON. Which filters will you be observing with tonight?
Taking dark flats is very simple. After you are finished taking your flat frames, cover your aperture with your dust cap and proceed to take your dark flats with the same exposure length and settings as your flats. Just add the dust cap and continue shooting!
Ideally darks need to be taken within 2C of lights, +2 difference will correct about 125%, -2 difference will correct ~80% of thermal FPN . If taken at much warmer temperature, you will end up overcorrecting. Dark current doubles every 6C.

While light frames are simply the name used to refer to our regular images, darks, bias, flats and dark flats are what we call calibration frames. These are used to enhance the quality of our data by reducing the noise, getting rid of small artifacts, and taking care of vignetting around the edges.
Bias frames are very similar to dark frames, except that the length of exposure you use to acquire them is as short as your imaging camera is able to take them.
Just aim to use at least 15 as a minimum. These days, no matter which camera I am using, I capture 15 dark frames for each and every project. If your astrophotography image includes data shot over several nights, youll need to make sure you use matching darks for each data set.
