In the traditional animation process, animators will begin by drawing sequences of animation on sheets of transparent paper perforated to fit the peg bars in their desks, often using colored pencils, one picture or frame at a time.
Formats such as Collada, SVG, and OBJ are very commonly used in animation, however, other formats can also be applied.
Impact Frames: Usually monochromatic or otherwise chromatically stylized drawings hidden within sequences to give them extra oomph. While they tend to flash for a fraction of a second for the most part, some animators choose to flaunt them instead.
Animation drawings are usually pencil line drawings on a low-quality, newsprint-like paper, although newer films use better papers. The paper has a row of holes at the bottom which fit over pegs to hold the drawings in place. This allows the artist to flip back and forth easily between drawings in a scene.
To apply the color to existing artwork, select an object or objects on the Stage, and select Window Color. Click the Stroke or Fill icon to specify which attribute to modify.
Impact Frame. A specific way to talk about a moves startup. If a move has 7 frames of non-hitting startup, and then has its first active frame on frame 8, youll often see this notated as i8 to indicate that the move can first make impact with its opponent on frame 8.
For clean-up, you can use animation bond paper, which is a standard paper for animation studios. It has peg holes on the bottom to fit the animation disc and comes in different sizes and colors. For tracing, you can use tracing paper, which is a thin and transparent paper that allows you to see the underlying drawing.
Professional animation paper is made with this in mind. It also comes in different sizes, which are referred to as field sizes. 12-field and 15-field are the most popular. 15-field is 15 inches wide and 12-field is 12 inches wide.
