To change the background color of the button, use the CSS background-color property and give it a value of a color of your taste.
Lightening or darkening a color in CSS involves adjusting the lightness parameter of the HSL color format. This parameter ranges from 0% (black) to 100% (white). By increasing the lightness value, you can make the color lighter and by decreasing it, you can darken a color.
To add a shadow to a button in CSS, you can use the box-shadow property. The box-shadow property takes four values: offset-x : the horizontal distance of the shadow from the element. A positive number moves the shadow to the right, and a negative number moves it to the left.
To change a cells background color with (X)HTML: Within the desired tag, type bgcolor= color, where color is either a name or a hex color (see page 126 and inside back cover).
