Adjusts the appearance of an image layer. Use the Brightness and Contrast window to adjust the appearance of an image layer.
Burn and Dodge tool To use these tools, simply select the tool you want to use, then set the brush you want to use and the range (Midtones, Shadows or Highlights) from the options bar. You can also change the exposure of the tool. Once youve set these, you simply brush over the area you want to lighten or darken.
The Darken mode compares the colors of the blending layer and the base layers, and keeps the darker colors. The Multiply mode multiplies the colors of the blending layer and the base layers, resulting in a darker color. This mode is useful for coloring shadows.
The Paint Bucket is used to fill an area with single specific color or hue. Position the cursor over the area to be filled and click with the Left mouse button to fill with the Primary color. Use the Right mouse button to fill the area with the Secondary color.

Darken: keeps the darkest colors between the blend and base layers. Multiply: keeps only the darker colors of the blend layer and makes light colors less opaque. The resulting color is always darker, except for where its pure white.

Another way of looking at this effect is that it is Motion Blur applied outwards from a central point. Distance determines how far the blurring will extend.
