blending Woods darken is a sibling to the multiply blending mode and they kind of do the same thing in the sense that they make light values transparent but keep the darker values they are kind of like the anti-thesis for lighting and the screen blend modes the darking blend mode affects values lighter than the value of the color you are using to blend if the values at the base layer is darker than the value or color you are working with it leaves it as it is or with minimal effects if the blend color you pick is the same as that of the base layer unlike with the multiply layer that multiplies that color resulting in a darker color which can then be used as a shadow the darker layer will have the same color as the base layer overall I do prefer the multiply layer itamp;#39;s much more fun and predictable to work with always try to experiment with these blending modes you know you can mess with the color saturation and opacity of the blend layer to see what you can get to actually spic

Apply light pressure with your pencil to create a base layer of shading. If youre shading with graphite, start with a soft 4B pencil to create a middle shade. Hold the pencil on its side, and move your elbow or shoulder rather than your wrist to lay down the shading in long strokes with a smooth transition.
Slide the small white triangle under the Output Levels section to the left. Note as you drag, the line becomes darker. When you are satisfied, click OK to close the Levels window and return to your darker line.
Drag a node up to affect the lightness of your layer. Drag a node down to affect the darkness. Drag a node left or right to affect contrast.
Overcome your fear of drawing dark. Use a black color pencil to draw the deepest darks. Tone down the half-tones and brighten the highlights to make darker sections of your drawing appear even darker. Gradually build up the values by layering graphite on paper. Draw with a softer pencil grade like a 2B or 4B.
1:12 9:28 You get a patina or a reflectiveness. In your graphite. And this can be really distracting.MoreYou get a patina or a reflectiveness. In your graphite. And this can be really distracting. Especially if youre trying to get this uniform.
When a dark tone is needed then do not place the very light tones on otherwise you will not achieve the degree of darkness required. In this instance the medium tones are added as a base then the stronger colours are laid on top of this darker base.
Shading. go over your lines in pen( or h/hb graphite pencil) and shade. dont press down to hard but make it a bit lighter than that of your penlines. definitely not too lighter than the baseboards though.
Pencil leads are graded uses the letters H for hard, B for black, and F for fine. Adding more clay increases the hardness (H) of a pencil lead. Decreasing the amount of clay gives a softer lead that leaves a darker, black (B), mark.
