Dark tones can be used to create a sense of drama or darkness, whereas lighter tones are effective at drawing the viewers attention to a certain point, especially when contrasted against a dark background.
The first thing you need to do when something goes horribly wrong in your art is to stop, take a break, come back and identify exactly what it is you dont like about where it currently is. To just keep working on it with no plan for what to fix or change is to keep getting frustrated and to keep failing.
Shading. go over your lines in pen( or h/hb graphite pencil) and shade. dont press down to hard but make it a bit lighter than that of your penlines. definitely not too lighter than the baseboards though.
The technique involves rapidly drawing lines, usually in the same direction, often at an angle. The closer the lines and the more pressure applied to the pencil, the darker the image. The more space between the lines and the softer the pressure on the pencil, the lighter the image.
Here are some tips to overcome resistance, and make art when you dont feel like it: Simplify it. Lower your expectations. Change your perspective. Make it fun. Act like a pro. Make a small twist. Give yourself some grace. Further Reading.
Video Walkthrough All artists feel this way! It is impossible to expect that you will like all your artwork. Take a break from looking at other artists on social media.
