You may also consider changing docHub Readers default behavior to enhance the display of thin lines on the display monitor. This behavior can be changed by going to Edit, Preferences, Page Display, then check/uncheck Enhance Thin Lines.
How to darken PDF file for printing with Preview: Open the PDF you want to darken with Preview. Go to File Export. Go to the Quartz Filter section and select Lightness Decrease. Save the file. When you reopen it, it should be darkened.
UPDF helps you darken the scanned PDF using its OCR feature. Open the scanned document in UPDF and click OCR, then click Perform OCR and select a location for saving your PDF. Once the OCR file opens, go to Page Tools, Background, Add, and choose the Background color by clicking the Color button.
Go to Edit Preferences, and click Accessibility from the available drop-down options in the Categories section. You can also use the Ctrl + K shortcut for the same. Check the box next to Replace Document Colors. Choose High-Contrast Colors, and select the one you want from the list of available drop-down options.
Click the part of the PDF you want to darken. Edit the object with Photoshop, GIMP or another image editing tool that has options to adjust the contrast or change the brightness. To get there, go to Tools Content Editing Edit Text and Images and right-click on the page to edit in with your image editor.
