hi everybody matt back with you uh today iamp;#39;m walking from south arum to halifax and iamp;#39;m taking this path which goes up to beacon hill itamp;#39;s called dark lane and itamp;#39;s actually an ancient medieval road it was the original road to get from wakefield to halifax before the 18th century so itamp;#39;s been here for a very very long time letamp;#39;s see if thereamp;#39;s anything of interest on the way it says wakefield gate ancient monument uh what it means by ancient monument is the road itself um you can see why itamp;#39;s called dark lane itamp;#39;s quite spooky so itamp;#39;s also known as uh the magnavire apparently or via and somewhere in the 1700s they stopped using this road and event itamp;#39;s kind of just left really as it was um itamp;#39;s described as becoming fossilized as in it looks like it did 300 years ago and the dark laying aspect youamp;#39;ll see a bit further on is because the trees go all the way over to create this archway
