Window Tinting Rules You cant drive certain types of registered vehicles if the windows have tinting that lets in less than 35% light. If a police officer sees a car with too dark a tint, they can stop the driver, give them a ticket, and order them to fix the tint.
Window Tint Laws in Maryland state that you are legally allowed to have 35% VLT (visible light transmission) on your sides and rear windows of any 2-door coupe or 4 door sedan. Trucks and SUVs can darken their rear windows as much as theyd like as there isnt any laws set for the rear windows for trucks and SUVs.
Medical conditions that may qualify for a tinting exemption in Maryland include light-sensitive conditions such as albinism, lupus, porphyria, or other conditions such as photophobia.
Windshield: Non-reflective 35% VLT tint is allowed on the AS-1 line or top 5 inches of the windshield. Front Side windows: Must allow more than 35% of light in. Back Side windows: Any darkness can be used. Rear Window: Any darkness can be used.
What are the state-specified medical conditions you have to have at least one to qualify? Medical conditions that may qualify for a tinting exemption in Maryland include light-sensitive conditions such as albinism, lupus, porphyria, or other conditions such as photophobia.
All windows in passenger cars, convertibles, and station wagons are required to have at least 35% light transmittance. These cars are also not allowed to have red, yellow, amber, and reflective window tint under Maryland tint law.
Tinting on all standard sedan vehicles must allow at least 35% of light to pass through the tinted windows. Amber, yellow, and red tinted windows are not allowed by law. Only the top 5 inches of a windshield are permitted to be tinted.
