Unfortunately, there is no way to restore faded ink to its original state. Some chemicals are advertised to darken original inks, but they are often damaging to paper and conservators do not recommend them.
LEDs emit very little UV light compared to fluorescent or incandescent bulbs. This makes them a safer option for illuminating sports cards without increasing the risk of UV damage. Monitor and Control Room Lighting: Be mindful of the overall lighting in rooms where sports cards are displayed or stored.
Higher temperatures, especially if there is moisture present in the room, can lead to discoloration of the leather and fading of the signature. Avoiding a wide swing in temperatures will also help preserve your autographed baseball.
The primary thing to consider is how to best protect the signature from fading or wearing away. The best way to do this is to use fabric markers, spray sealers, and pens with archival-quality ink. It is also important to gently wash the garment with mild detergent and cold water.
Autographs do not do well in the sun. The UV rays that the sun emits will fade and discolour even the most robust marker pen signature. But that doesnt mean you cant display your autograph on the walls of your home. The solution is to invest in a UV protective display case, which will mitigate any solar radiation.
As important as the fabric and pen quality are, the primary cause of autographs fading is exposure to light. The suns natural light contains harmful ultra-violet (UV) rays that have a damaging effect on the molecules in ink. However, artificial lighting can also have a negative effect and speed up the fading process.
Open a solid color adjustment layer above the signature layer and select the new color. Click the color button in the Fill Sign menu and choose your desired color. By default, the signature color is black.
