You know the dreaded moment when you feel that familiar but nevertheless shocking surge of pain on your finger. You were just trying to mail a letter to your Great-Aunt Celia to thank her for the hand knitted mittens she sent you for Christmas, and then it happens. Your fingertip is searing in pain; it feels like a knife just sliced through your top few layers of skin. Its such a small cut and barely even draws any blood, so why does it hurt so bad? Lets delve into that on this episode of The Infographics Show, Why Do Paper Cuts Hurt So Bad? The dreadful paper cut is just a fun little thing we humans unintentionally do to ourselves to keep us on our toes. You thought you had good hand-eye coordination? Well, think again. One reason why these annoying little cuts hurt so badly is because they usually happen on our most sensitive areas like the fingertip, lip, or tongue. A swab can test for infections such as chlamydia, gonorrhea, yeast, bacterial vaginosis, or trichomonas. Women who have vaginal symptoms (odour, itching, or an increase or change in discharge) should have a swab done to test for these infections.
There are two types of tests: the Pap test and the HPV test. For both, the doctor or nurse collects cells from the surface of the cervix. With the Pap test, the lab checks the sample for cancer cells or abnormal cells that could become cancer later. With the HPV test, the lab checks for HPV infection.
How often should a Pap smear be repeated? Doctors generally recommend repeating Pap testing every three years for women ages 21 to 65. Women age 30 and older can consider Pap testing every five years if the procedure is combined with testing for HPV. Or they might consider HPV testing instead of the Pap test.
Pap Smear (Cytology) Results Classification Atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance (ASC-US). ASC-US is the most common abnormal Pap test result. Atypical glandular cells (AGC).

A Pap smear involves collecting cells from your cervix the lower, narrow end of your uterus thats at the top of your vagina. Detecting cervical cancer early with a Pap smear gives you a greater chance at a cure. A Pap smear can also detect changes in your cervical cells that suggest cancer may develop in the future.
Pulmonary artery pressure Cardiovascular textbooks indicate a 919 mmHg range for normal mean PAP at sea level 47, 48. In resting healthy subjects aged 645 yrs, mean PAP remains constant at 143 mmHg 2, 4.
Pap Smear Procedure Youll spread your legs, and your doctor will insert a metal or plastic tool (speculum) into your vagina. Theyll open it so that it widens the vaginal walls. This allows them to see your cervix. Your doctor will use a swab to take a sample of cells from your cervix.
Unlike a Pap test, where tissue from your entire cervix gets scraped, colposcopy allows your provider to take tissue samples by scraping cells from select areas. Small pieces of tissue will be removed and sent to a laboratory to see if cancer or precancer cells are present.
However, the Pap smear test used to look for abnormal cells in the cervix, while the cervical screening test looks for HPV infection. The new test for HPV can identify women who could be at risk of cervical cancer earlier than the Pap test could.
