Why is Crooks rude to Lennie? Crooks is rude to Lennie because he is the only black man on the ranch and he feels left out. He is angry and takes it out on Lennie. Crooks is not use to people being nice to him.
In Chapter Four, its Saturday night and most of the men have gone into the nearby town to go to a brothel , leaving behind Lennie, Candy and Crooks (a disabled man who works in the stables and is the only black man on the ranch), as well as Curleys wife. Lennie goes to Crooks room in the stable.
Answer and Explanation: George is lonely in Of Mice and Men because of his own discipline and his relationship with Lennie. He avoids fraternizing with the men on the ranch because he feels like he needs to focus on the task at hand: buying a farm.
Crooks is so named because of a crooked back caused by a kick from a horse. Crooks is the stable hand who takes care of the horses and lives by himself because he is the only black man on the ranch.
During their conversation, Lennie reveals the secret about the farm, which Crooks initially thinks Lennie is making up. Crooks also prods Lennie about his relationship with George and scares Lennie by suggesting that George might not come back. The more Crooks presses Lennie, the more Lennie becomes scared and upset.
George Returns As the white men leave Crookss bunk, Crooks calls out to Candy and tells him to forget about him coming to work on the farm. Of Mice and Men: Chapter 4 ends up with Crooks alone in his room, rubbing liniment on his back.
Second, the first person to call him Crooks (if that even is his name) is Slim, whos respectful to everybody. Candy, the longest-serving member of the ranch, calls him the or the stable buck.
Man vs. Man. The physical fight that takes place between Lennie and Curley is an example of a Man vs. Man vs. Himself. The climax, or turning point, of the novel occurs when Lennie accidentally kills Curleys wife. Man vs. Nature. Man vs. Society.
Curleys wife shows many sides to herself in chapter 4, she starts off being very nice and friendly, to getting slightly annoyed at the men and finally to get very upset at how she is constantly ignored by the other ranch workers and her husband. read more.
